Stony Hills Nature Preserve
Located just off of the scenic Great River Road, the 196 acre Stony Hills Nature Preserve is the perfect place to observe nature in west-central Illinois. In November 1999, Gretchen & Roger Batz protected the site with the Illinois Nature Preserve Commission. The site was dedicated to protect unique natural habitat including limestone cliff outcroppings, oak hickory woodland, and a restored prairie. In 2009 the Gretchen and Roger donated the site to Prairie Land Conservancy. SHNP is also home to Lisa's Showcase Prairie.
