Engineering Design & Construction Experience:
Supervised the design and construction of numerous water and refuse impoundments.
Design and construction of conveyor systems, pumps, pipelines, utilities, crushing / sizing equipment, and all peripheral equipment associated with coal processing facilities.
Supervised and troubleshot repairs to major pieces of mining equipment.
Prepared construction specifications for and engineering supervision of multiple consultants.
Supervisory Experience:
As Mine Superintendent, supervised 70 employees and was responsible to corporate management for production, equipment maintenance, labor relations, costs, and budgets. Also responsible for environmental compliance, land reclamation, and safety and health.
As Manager of Environmental Engineering, responsible for corporate-level environmental management including direction of environmental policy, permitting and regulatory compliance, and coordination of all regulatory contacts, negotiations, and public relations. Member of the General Dynamics Environmental Advisory council helping to direct their corporate environmental policy and assist in environmental audits of various companies within the corporation.
As Director of Surface Operations, responsible for the development and permitting of several new mining facilities including resource investigations, cost projections, public relations, and regulatory negotiations.
Business owner:
Employed 26 people to perform surface coal mining activities at the North Grindstone Mine.
Performed mining and reclamation activities at the North Grindstone Mine in accordance with MSHA, USACOE, IEPA, IDNR OMM, DNR OWR regulatory requirements, and agency over site.
Successfully established the Black Nugget Hill Prairie at the reclaimed North Grindstone Mine site.
